GDPR as a term usually provokes disbelief and fear – and least in the eyes of those who failed to properly prepare for this EU directive. It isn’t something to be taken lightly since it will combine all data protection laws across Europe to help protect citizens’ personal data and, in particular, how companies store and use this data.
This regulation can affect almost every department in your organisation, ranging from data storage to marketing communication, and all of those who are unable to comply with the directive will face significant fines for potential consequences of a data breach. Although GDPR is not all about punishing companies, it simply alters your mindset, focusing on keeping the safety and security of your customers and citizens.
Companies are required to complete this alignment the 25th of May, 2018 – then GDPR will come into force throughout the European Union.
Our next guest at Tinel Meetup is Igor Pavlekovic who works at Microsoft in the Account Technology department, where he is responsible for implementing the technology strategy for enterprise users. He will talk about the regulation in general and how did Microsoft manage to create and execute a GDPR compliance program in their organisation. The event will take place in Split on the 20th of April, and it’s completely free of charge.
Prior to his career in Microsoft, Igor worked in the Algebra Education Group as the Technical Support Manager – CTO, as well as a lecturer in the fields of Collaboration Systems within MOC Education, and as Assistant to several College High School courses for Applied Computing. As per usual, the event is free, and all you need to do is confirm your attendance on our Meetup.com event hub.
